Web systems for the manufacturing divisions
I handled feature work, defect fixes and QA for the web systems covering production planning, production and operation records, and inspection results.
- Organisation
- YAMATO KOGYO Co., Ltd.
- Period
- Nov 2022 – Dec 2024
- How it started
- Assigned
- My part
- Development through operation and QA, alone (requirements shared with my section manager)
- For whom
- The manufacturing division (steelmaking)
What I did
Developed several new functions: recording operation stoppages, checking quality standards, extracting operator records into Excel.
Kept folding in what the user departments asked for: alarms for out-of-spec chemistry, over/under display for JIS ship classes, a viewer for process-computer events, a pie chart of scrap composition, automatic import of furnace records from Excel.
Stayed with it end to end, from hearing and defining requirements (shared with my section chief) through development, testing, operation and QA.
Built the alarm features that talk to plant equipment over OPC, together with engineers from the steelmaking and facilities departments.
Choices I made
Wrote by hand, in Java and JavaScript, what the low-code tool could not reach.
Developed custom components for the ETL tool (ASTERIA Warp) to handle OPC communication and the more involved Excel extractions.
