My main work is company-wide data extraction, dashboards and analysis on request, along with the planning, development and operation of everything around data use — administering the BI tools, building the data catalog, building the HTML dashboard platform. With the business users I go from agreeing on the metrics through extraction to interpretation and drawing out what it implies, staying alongside them until the business goal is met. So that demand for data can be answered quickly and accurately together with generative AI, I am also driving the planning and technical implementation of a data environment designed on the assumption that generative AI will use it. My centre of gravity is data engineering, and the work supports how the whole company uses data.

Outside work I build apps and games of my own. President Noir, an online-only card game where you combine house rules freely, is out on Steam, split into a Go server and a Unity client. Most recently I released BigTap on the App Store, an iOS keyboard built around a single enormous button. Planning and the PRD, UI design, server and client implementation, infrastructure as code with Terraform, operation after release, and reaching users.

Generative AI does most of the building, at work and on my own projects alike. Rather than reviewing implementation line by line, I review the design closely, which lets me run several projects in parallel.

I am thorough about keeping my own work and life in data, and about taking the manual effort out of it. Everything sits in a database of my own, behind self-built web applications on AWS for task management, household finances, and links. The task manager exposes a CLI and its schema so that coding agents can operate it directly, and inquiries about my published apps flow automatically from the intake form through to a public status board.
